Sam Pickard is an award winning textile artist and craftswoman who hand-prints contemporary textiles informed and inspired by the seasonal colours of the North Devon & Exmoor landscape where she lives and works.
Her extensive knowledge of textile dyes, has been gained over thirty five years of experimentation and discovery, documenting many hundreds of colours from plants and birds & then meticulously translating these into
textile dye recipes to use in her work.
Sam was born in Bath and studied printed Textile Design (B.A.hons) at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts in 1985.
She spent one year in India studying block-printed textiles following a R.S.A. travel award and gained an M.A. with distinction in Textile design from Bath Spa University in 2008.
