Elke Sada

Elke was born in Germany in 1965. At the age of 35 after a career as a research technician, she decided to retrain in ceramics at Bath Spa University and later was awarded an M.A. in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art in London.

Her work is about surface and colour. Inspiration is anything from a painting, to a song, to an emotion, to a bunch of flowers

She paints with coloured slips onto a plaster block into which she pours clay. When the clay is firm it is lifted from the block and a new image is revealed, it is then cut and folded into totally unique vessels.

Elke Sada’s work is held in public and private collections across Europe
